WHO WE ARE
The MFA is local chapter number 8 of the American Farriers Association. It was started by central Maryland farriers with the idea of promoting unity and continuing education within the farrier community serving Maryland and surrounding states.
OFFICERS:
President: Liam Straton
Vice President: Corey Minnick
Treasurer: Dean Geis
WHAT WE DO:
The MFA is an organization focused on continuing education and professional networking for farriers.
The MFA hosts several activities each year including but not limited to:
*AFA Precertification clinics
*AFA Certification examinations
*Hands on clinics, and hammer-ins
Often the association activities are informally organized via subgroups within the MFA. For example: area or discipline specific farriers will gather to share knowledge, practice forgework, or relay experience-based observations.
These activities build relationships and help farriers perform in practical application on a daily basis.
The MFA is not in the business of referring farriers, but we do provide a list of farriers that are members in good standing.
Our Membership is made up of qualified people who make farriery their livelihood.
We urge you to ask potential farriers about their experience level, discipline specific shoeing experiences and if they can provide references via customers, trainers, Veterinarians and or other qualified farriers.
Please see our MFA listing page for the full list.
